New Kia Niro and EV6 ‘Horizon’ special editions bring value to brand’s EV line-up

New trim level for Kia’s electric cars brings extra kit for around £700 more than the base cars

Kia Horizon front

Kia has revealed an all-new, special-edition ‘Horizon’ trim level for its Niro EV and EV6 electric cars. Acting as a step-up from entry-level models, the new ‘Horizon’ trim puts a focus on value for money, with equipment like LED headlights and heated seats.

Starting from £37,995, the Kia Niro EV Horizon only costs £670 more than the base ‘2’ model, which already comes decently-equipped as standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, a dual-10.25-inch screen infotainment system, adaptive cruise control and rear parking sensors. For your extra cash, however, the Horizon trim adds LED headlights, leatherette upholstery, heated front seats with an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, a wireless phone charger, power-folding mirrors, blind spot monitoring and front parking sensors.

Kia Horizon rear

Only available with the standard 225bhp single-motor powertrain, the Kia EV6 Horizon costs £45,995, which is just £720 more than the mechanically identical entry-level ‘Air’ version. . This modest premium adds front parking sensors, an electric driver’s seat, heated rear seats, a wireless phone charger and a powered bootlid to a generous specification that already includes a and above the level of standard kit which already includes LED lights, a curved dual-12.3-inch infotainment system, vegan leather upholstery, heated front seats and a reversing camera..

The Kia Niro EV and EV6 Horizon cars are both available in three colours: Midnight Black, Interstellar Grey and, for the Niro EV, Mineral Blue and, for the EV6, Gravity Blue. Each car also gets gloss black exterior details to help them stand out from other models in the line-up.

The Horizon trim level is available to order now, with Kia saying first deliveries are expected to arrive in January 2024. One thing worth noting is that given Kia itself has dubbed the specification as a ‘special edition’, we don't know at this stage whether the Horizon trim will be a permanent addition to the range.
