Hello there, I’m George Armitage and I have the honour of being the Content Editor here at DrivingElectric, while I also occasionally contribute to the AutoExpress. Before joining the team in 2024, I started my career restoring classic cars before moving into the car sales industry. After writing a few freelance articles in my early career years I then moved on to regularly contributing to a not-so-well-known sports website called Dubsport, growing my hunger for writing about cars!
I’ve been able to see the evolution of electric cars from a range of different perspectives, watching the growth in the quality and capability of EVs and experiencing it first hand with customers in a car sales environment. DrivingElectric’s aim to make EV buying easier is very important to me. The car world is evolving and I love educating people on the benefits that come with electric cars while helping them decide if an EV is right for them.

George Armitage electric car Q&A
What’s the best thing about electric cars?
“I think the best thing about electric cars is the incredible performance and torque you can produce from these motors. The immediate torque and instant acceleration turns even the simplest cars to ones that can make you grin.
Using the example of one of my favourite EVs, the MINI Electric, this car still has all of the handling and fun feel you would expect from a MINI but there’s also that immediate acceleration which made me smile like it was the first time I had driven a classic Mini all those years ago.”
What was your first electric car experience?
“My first EV experience was actually on a race track. I was in Majorca for an event and they had lined up all sorts of incredible brands like Aston Martin, McLaren, Jaguar and Audi but at the end of the grid sat a car that really surprised me, the Porsche Taycan Turbo S. I could not believe the amount of power that car had, off the mark not a single other car there could keep up and even round the corners it shifted quickly using the astonishing Porsche powertrain technology. From that day I became addicted to the thrill of instant acceleration. ”
What one piece of advice would you give to electric car buyers?
“I would say not to believe everything you read on social media. There is a lot of false information online about these vehicles. When considering purchasing a car go to credible sources like the manufacturer or a trusted news and reviews source like DrivingElectric. Then, once you find a car you like, go and test drive the car because the EV driving experience is special and you’ll quickly know if it really is the right car for you or not.”
