Citroen e-Berlingo seven-seater electric MPV: prices, specs and details

Full UK pricing and specifications for the five and seven-seater passenger versions of the Citroen e-Berlingo electric van have been revealed. Prices run from £29,495 to £32,995 on the road – including the government plug-in car grant where applicable.

The e-Berlingo is a sister model to the Peugeot e-Rifter and Vauxhall Combo-e Life, sharing their 134bhp electric motor, 50kWh battery and estimated 170-mile driving range. Like its sister models, the e-Berlingo can recharge at up to 100kW from public rapid charging points. This allows for a top-up to 80% capacity in as little as 30 minutes.

Charging at home from a wallbox is also possible, with a 100% top-up taking seven-and-a-half hours at the most commonly available speed of 7.4kW. If your property has three-phase power and a compatible wallbox, you can upgrade to 11kW on-board charging, which will see the battery topped up fully in under five hours.

Once charged up and on the road, top speed for the e-Berlingo is 83mph and there are three drive modes, letting you balance power with range as needed. They start with Eco, which restricts power to 80bhp and reduces power to the air-conditioning and heating systems for maximum range. Normal mode allows 107bhp  and is suited to most everyday driving, while Power frees up the maximum 134bhp for when the car is fully loaded with passengers or luggage.

Citroen e-Berlingo practicality and boot capacity

Two body lengths are available: the 4.4-metre-long 'M' (with five seats) and the 4.75-metre-long 'XL' (with seven seats). Both are under 1.9 metres tall, ensuring access to regular multi-storey car parks and garages. All versions get large sliding doors on both sides, along with a large tailgate and opening rear window.

The XL has a maximum luggage capacity of 2,126 litres with the two rows of rear seats folded, or 1,050 litres with five seats in place. Citroen says there are 26 separate storage spaces in the cabin, including the optional 'Modutop' roof. This incorporates a 60-litre overhead bin with a 10kg weight limit. A large glass area, including an optional panoramic sunroof, ensures the cabin feels bright and airy for all occupants.

Trim levels, prices and specs

Two trim levels are offered: Feel and Flair XTR. As of January 2022, both are available with either the M (five-seater) or XL (seven-seater) body lengths, although the range-topping XTR XL isn't eligible for the government's plug-in car grant. As regards standard kit, Feel gets 16-inch steel wheels with covers, LED daytime running lights, automatic headlights, powered door mirrors and automatic wipers. Inside there's cloth upholstery, a folding front passenger seat, a 60:30 folding second-row bench and tray tables on the back of the front seats. On the technology front there's an eight-inch touchscreen, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. 

Flair XTR adds 17-inch alloy wheels, black roof bars and door mirrors, orange foglight surrounds and orange flourishes elsewhere. Inside, it has a 10-inch fully digital driver's display and navigation with real-time traffic updates and connected services, along with a head-up display and a 180-degree colour reversing camera.

Available driver-assistance and active safety features (either standard or optional) include keyless entry and start, a colour head-up display, hill-start assistance, and front, side and rear parking sensors. A reversing camera, intelligent beam headlights, an electric parking brake, cruise control and parking assistance are also included, along with active safety braking, lane-departure warning, driver attention alert and trailer stability control. Grip and hill-descent assistance, traffic-sign recognition and blind-spot monitoring round off the list.
