EV Deal of the Day: high-quality MINI Aceman for £229 per month
If you’re after MINI Cooper style with a little extra practicality, then the Aceman could be just the ticket
- Good to drive
- Five-door practicality
- Impressive cabin quality
The MINI Aceman is a small electric SUV that’s full of quality and fun to drive. It carries over some of the smaller Cooper model’s fun factor and premium feel, but with the addition of rear doors and more usable space. While this might make the Aceman a more convenient and practical proposition, it isn’t really roomy enough to take on the role of a family car; yes, it’s great on the school run and for urban shopping trips, but its limited 300-litre boot and cramped rear headroom mean you really need to be sure it will fit your lifestyle. But if it does, then you’ll have a car that looks great, has a beautifully styled interior, and simply feels more fun on the road than the competition.
This two-year PCH (Personal Contract Hire) deal is from VIPGateway Leasing through Carwow, and requires an initial payment of £3,042.06, followed by monthly payments of £228.59, while there is a 5,000-mile annual limit.
The SE Exclusive model in this particular deal features an impressive level of standard equipment, including 18-inch alloys, cruise control, a rear-view camera, sports seats, a heated steering wheel, and MINI’s OLED circular infotainment display that features navigation, along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
With the MINI’s 49.2kWh battery and single electric motor driving the front wheels, this SE Exclusive model produces 215bhp and dispatches the benchmark 0-62mph sprint in 7.1 seconds. MINI claims you should see around 239 to 248 miles from a single charge, although during our own test we managed an efficiency rate of 3.8 miles per kW hour – suggesting an overall figure of closer to 200 miles would probably be the norm.
Downsides? We think the Aceman’s firm ride may put some buyers off, so it’s definitely worth taking a test drive before you do the deal. Plus, its fairly mediocre 95kWh peak charging speed doesn’t compete well with rivals, and may become an irritation if you regularly need to use public charging points. Despite all that, though, the Aceman’s good quality and cheerful personality could be enough to win you over.
