PHEV Deal of the Day: Jaecoo 7 family SUV for £270 per month
With an efficient plug-in hybrid system, a stylish cabin and plenty of standard kit, the new Jaecoo 7 is an appealing choice

- Good all-electric range
- Lots of standard equipment
- Striking looks
Family SUV buyers can now add the new Jaecoo 7 to an ever-growing list of car-changing options. While some, if not most of you, might be wondering who on earth Jaecoo is, the Chinese manufacturer’s ambitious plans alongside its sister brand, Omoda, mean that you’ll soon be seeing the eye-catching J7 more frequently on UK roads.
There’s plans for a smaller Jaecoo 5 SUV later in the year, and possibly a Land Rover Defender-inspired Jaecoo 6 model, but for now the Jaecoo 7 is here to tempt you away from the likes of the Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage and MINI Countryman.
Carparison Leasing, through Carwow, is offering a three-year PCH (Personal Contract Hire) deal for a Jaecoo 7, requiring an initial payment of £3,537.24, followed by monthly payments of £269.87. It does have a 5,000-mile annual limit, so be sure to check that this is sufficient for your day-to-day needs, or alternatively you can check with the broker about a mileage upgrade.
The Jaecoo 7 PHEV is offered solely in Luxury specification, which means you won’t be left wanting for any kit. Standard features include 19-inch alloys, a full-length panoramic sunroof, a powered tailgate, keyless start, adaptive cruise control, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, wireless smartphone charging, a head-up display, an eight-speaker Sony audio system, and a 14.8-inch portrait infotainment touchscreen.
Safety is good too, with the Jaecoo 7 earning a five-star Euro NCAP rating. Onboard systems such as lane-departure warning and automatic emergency braking provide extra reassurance on the road, while there’s also a 540-degree panoramic camera, which helps with low-speed manoeuvres and parking in tighter spaces by showing you a view not just all round the car, but also underneath it.

Jaecoo calls its plug-in hybrid set-up the ‘Super Hybrid System’ (SHS) and it’s a bit different from most PHEV arrangements. It’s designed to never let the 18.3kWh battery run flat, which means that although the engine is used to generate energy, you’ve always got power in the battery to run in EV mode when it makes most sense - i.e. through town, or in more built-up areas. Jaecoo even claims you should be able to cover 745 miles on a full battery and a single tank of petrol.
The system is able to generate 201bhp, propelling the front-wheel-drive J7 from 0-62mph in 8.5 seconds, and onto a top speed of 112mph.
