Toyota Corolla hybrid boot space & seating
The Toyota Corolla hybrid is reasonably spacious inside and has a good-sized boot, but it's not a class leader in this respect
Length | Width | Height | Boot volume (seats up) |
---|---|---|---|
4,370mm | 1,790mm | 1,435mm | 313-361 litres |
Space for passengers and luggage is reasonable, if not class-leading, in the Toyota Corolla. A 40mm increase in length compared to the old Auris improves things, while the Touring Sports estate and (now discontinued) four-door saloon versions have a longer wheelbase for greater rear legroom.
Toyota Corolla hybrid interior space, storage & comfort
Compared to the previous Auris hatchback, the Corolla is 40mm longer, giving greater interior room front and rear. Passengers in the back also get their own air vents for greater comfort. Overall, the Corolla is pretty spacious inside, with the exception of knee room in the rear, which could be tight for taller occupants. Both the driving position and the driver's visibility are excellent, however, and there has been a noticeable step up in interior quality compared to the Auris.
Boot space
Boot space in the Corolla hatchback varies depending on whether you go for the 1.8 or 2.0-litre hybrid engine. With the former, there's 361 litres to play with, but choose the latter and it drops to just 313 litres. That compares to 381 litres in the new Volkswagen Golf or 375 litres in a Ford Focus. More boot space is on offer in the Corolla Touring Sports estate, however – we've reviewed it separately.
