EV Deal of the Day: Vauxhall Corsa Electric for £169 a month

The Vauxhall Corsa Electric is easy to drive and offers an effortless route into all-electric motoring

Vauxhall Corsa Electric - dynamic
  • Good real-world range
  • Generous standard equipment
  • Easy to drive

If you’re looking for an small electric car that feels just like a petrol or diesel car to drive, and won’t bamboozle you with tricky tech, then the Vauxhall Corsa Electric is the one to choose.

Making the transition to an EV can be a daunting prospect for some, which means uncomplicated cars such as the Corsa Electric really come into their own. During our test we found it to be great for nipping around town, thanks to its responsive acceleration, decent agility and ease of use. Chances are that you won’t be taking many long-distance road trips in this battery-powered five-door hatch, so you’ll be able to enjoy it for what it does best – acting as an efficient, urban cruiser that, with this particular deal, provides great value for money.

This three-year PCH (Personal Contract Hire) offer is from Lease Car UK through Carwow, requiring an initial deposit of £2,321.99, followed by monthly payments of £168.50 There’s a 5,000-mile annual limit, which should be enough to cover most day-to-day journeys, although it’s important to be sure that this will meet your motoring needs, otherwise you might have to pay excess mileage charges.

A key benefit of this type of finance agreement is that you avoid all the pain that comes with depreciation and selling the car on – in this case, after 36 months you simply hand the car back. It’s worth thinking about, because the Corsa Electric has poor residual values - retaining only 31 per cent of its original value after three years.

It leaves you to simply enjoy a good car that comes with an impressive specification. The Corsa Electric Ultimate features 17-inch black alloys, Intelli-Lux adaptive Matrix headlights, adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors with a panoramic rear-view camera, keyless entry and start, heated front seats with a massage function for the driver, upgraded Alcantara upholstery, wireless smartphone charging and a 10-inch infotainment touchscreen with integrated navigation and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Corsa's 50kWh battery powers a single, front-mounted electric motor delivering 134bhp, with 0-62mph covered in 8.2 seconds. Vauxhall claims you should be able to cover up to 221 miles on a single charge, which we’d say probably equates to nearer 200 miles in real-world conditions.

All of our EV Deal of the Day choices are chosen from the providers on our parent site Carwow. Our experts choose the best deals on cars we’re happy to recommend.
