12 most innovative and eccentric electric cars - Nissan Leaf
These electric cars are at the vanguard of what’s possible

Nissan Leaf
It’s hard to understate the significance of the original Nissan Leaf. It became the UK’s first affordable, practical electric car that could be used every day. It was safe, offered enough space for family transport and was the product of a major carmaker – with all the reassurance and supporting infrastructure that brings.
Although a series of revisions brought myriad improvements, the first versions of the Leaf boasted a 109-mile range, a figure that was boosted to 124 miles and ultimately to 155 miles. As you can see in DrivingElectric’s car reviews section, the Leaf spawned dozens of competitors, but the Leaf remains the name in affordable electric cars.
