EV Deal of the Day: sporty Cupra Born EV for only £213 per month

With this Cupra Born deal, you can have a sharp-looking, all-electric family hatch for a little over £50 per week

Cupra Born
  • Sporty looks
  • Decent level of standard kit
  • Good to drive

Although the Cupra Born EV is closely related to the Volkswagen ID.3, the sporty-looking Spanish hatchback offers a much more exciting proposition than its dowdier German stablemate. Sharper styling, along with Cupra’s use of striking, bronze exterior accents, mean the Born has a lot of kerb appeal, while its higher-quality interior - compared with the ID.3 - offers a premium feel. Plus, it’s practical and fun to drive, too, with a usable real-world electric range and good efficiency – what’s not to like?

Our deal-of-the-day is a two-year PCH (Personal Contract Hire) offer from Xcite car leasing, through our parent site Carwow. It features a Born model with a 58kWh battery and, although in entry V1 specification, it still comes with a generous level of standard equipment. An initial payment of £2,823.84 is required, followed by reasonable instalments of £212.82 each month, while there’s an annual mileage limit of 5,000 miles.

The V1 trim level includes 18-inch alloys, LED headlights, a keyless go function, adaptive cruise control, dual-zone climate control, a heated steering wheel, and a 12.9-inch central infotainment display with wireless Full Link smartphone integration. Cupra also provides reassuring active safety systems such as lane assist, a forward-collision warning with automatic braking, plus attention and drowsiness assist.

Inside the cabin, there’s a driver-focused feel, with a higher centre console and sporty, well bolstered seats, while those in the rear benefit from a flat floor that makes it easier to stretch out - although the Born’s sloping roofline does impact on rear headroom for taller passengers. The boot is perfectly adequate for most day-to-day use; it’s just a touch bigger than a VW Golf, but there’s no front storage under the bonnet, which is often an ideal spot for keeping charging cables secure.

This particular Born model has a total output of 201bhp and is capable of 0-62mph in a little over seven seconds, while overall range is around 265 miles. We’ve found the Born to be relatively efficient during our own testing, while if you do need to top up the battery when out and about, a 10-80% charge should take around half an hour.

All of our EV Deal of the Day choices are chosen from the providers on our parent site Carwow. Our experts choose the best deals on cars we’re happy to recommend
