The all-electric Peugeot E-2008 small SUV looks great inside and out, and all the more appealing at this low price

  • Good build quality
  • Decent boot space
  • Low running costs

The Peugeot 2008 is a small SUV that stands out from its rivals with its eye-catching looks and good build quality, while offering a practical boot and useful onboard technology. When you swap its petrol engine for an all-electric powertrain, you get the E-2008, which is also able to provide emissions-free motoring and lower daily running costs – a consideration which will be high on the agenda of most family buyers.

True, we’ve often said that the e-2008 is hamstrung by its relatively high list price – which brings it into more premium territory – but this four-year PCH (Personal Contract Hire) deal from VIP Gateway, through our parent site Carwow, looks to have solved that particular problem. You’ll need to provide an initial payment of £2,719.77, followed by monthly instalments of £210.56, while there’s a 5,000-mile annual limit.

This Active model comes with LED headlights, rear parking sensors, automatic air-conditioning, and Peugeot’s i-Cockpit set-up, which brings a 10-inch colour infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There’s a host of active safety systems, too, including Lane Keep Assist, speed-limit recognition and a driver-attention warning.

Admittedly, the cabin is a bit of a mixed bag; that solid build quality and a large practical boot are certainly positives, but although there’s decent enough room up front, the rear passengers will be more cramped. Small doors can also make getting into the back a little awkward, so we probably wouldn’t recommend the E-2008 if, for instance, you regularly have to transport younger kids in child seats. This issue, along with making sure that you’re fine with the ergonomics of the i-Cockpit design, would be points we’d highlight to check before any potential purchase.

With its 50kWh battery and single electric motor, this 134bhp e-2008 model manages a respectable 0-62mph time of 9.8 seconds, while Peugeot claims it should be good for around 201 to 232 miles from a full charge across a mixture of roads.

All of our EV Deal of the Day choices are chosen from the providers on our parent site Carwow. Our experts choose the best deals on cars we’re happy to recommend.
