EV Deal of the Day: impressive Volkswagen ID.7 for only £252 per month

The Volkswagen ID.7 offers a lot of bang for your buck, bringing excellent practicality, generous levels of equipment and a useful battery range

Volkswagen continues to grow its ID-badged range of electric cars, with the ID.7 large hatchback – launched late last year – the most recent addition to its all-electric stable. Collectively, the German manufacturer's ID.3 hatchback, ID.4 SUV and more style-conscious ID.5 coupe-SUV were, in truth, a little disappointing, but we think the ID.7 is its most complete effort yet.

One of the few criticisms we did have was that the ID.7 was a little pricey compared to EV rivals such as the Tesla Model 3 and Polestar 2. But we’ve found a competitive two-year PCH (Personal Contract Hire) offer from Carparison, through our parent site Carwow. It’s for an ID.7 77kWh Pro Match model, and requires an initial payment of £3,322.80, followed by low monthly instalments of £252 each month, while there’s an annual limit of 5,000 miles.

The ID.7 focuses on comfort and refinement and this Pro Match car features a generous specification that helps to promote an executive feel. Standard equipment includes 19-inch alloys, LED matrix headlights, keyless entry and start, rear privacy glass, a rear view camera, an augmented reality head-up display, three-zone climate control, power adjustable front seats with massage function, a heated steering wheel and a 15-inch infotainment display with integrated navigation.

Safety levels are good, too, with active systems such as lane assist, lane change system side assist and a rear traffic alert. The park assistance plus feature, with front and rear sensors, will be a real asset for those who aren’t overly keen on negotiating tighter spaces, because the system can tell when driving past if a parking space is big enough – and can also park the car for you.

At almost five metres in length, the ID.7 is a bigger car than you might expect, but it means you’ll benefit from excellent interior space and a decent 532-litre boot – made all the more accessible by the practical hatch opening. Plus, everything feels well screwed together inside the cabin, while the touch-sensitive controls now come with added backlighting and are more responsive than before, which makes them easier to use when on the move.

Rounding off an impressive package is the ID.7 Pro Match’s ability to cover up to 381 miles on a single charge, while acceleration is strong, too, with 0-62mph covered in just 6.5 seconds.
