Isn’t life supposed to be fun? It’s what makes us feel alive, and stops us from taking things too seriously - in fact, some quality time spent enjoying yourself is meant to be good for your health. It’s a no-brainer. But, at a time when many people are embarking on a new, electrified journey, it’s important to remember that, while our cars are important tools for getting from A to B, they also exist to provide us with the freedom to travel far and wide, to explore and find some excitement behind the wheel. Making cars that are fun to drive is part of Ford’s DNA – aiming to excite, delight and stir the soul. A move to electric energy doesn’t change a thing, and true to form Ford has delivered a car for your driving pleasure, both on and off road: say hello to the Mustang Mach-E Rally.

Rally ready

With dramatic, rally-inspired styling and upgrades, the Mach-E Rally is taking the Mustang name into fresh territory - opening up the drama of dirt and gravel roads to create a new, exciting opportunity for Ford EVs. Always keen to explore untapped areas of performance, Ford’s engineering creativity has led to the Mustang Mach-E Rally utilising a dual-motor electric powertrain, along with rally-tuned suspension and eye-catching styling. If you’re after something different from the everyday norm, the Mach-E Rally provides an exciting and dynamic option for the EV customer that’s seeking an extra edge as they slip into the driving seat.

Ford has taken a typically pioneering step in applying this new technology to expand the Mustang Mach-E family. Boasting a tuned version of the Mach-E GT powertrain, the all-wheel-drive Rally model generates 480bhp, in combination with an astounding 950Nm of torque. The result is a supercar-like 0-62mph time of just 3.6 seconds.*

But it’s not just straight-line speed and pure muscle that help the Mach-E Rally stand out from the all-electric crowd. That suspension set-up is unique to the range and raised by 20mm over the Mach-E GT to allow extra ground clearance over more uneven terrain. MagneRide shock absorbers are designed to handle the buffeting from any off-road excursions too, while Brembo brakes provide extra reassurance when you need to haul the power in.

Iconic style

Further inspired by its rich history of rally competition, Ford has furnished the Mustang Mach-E Rally with gloss white 19-inch alloy wheels, and also paid attention to the need for increased robustness by fitting Michelin CrossClimate 2 tyres that provide more sidewall and better grip on loose surfaces than the GT model. Plus, the underside gets protective shielding for the front and rear motors, along with protective film on the door cladding and wheel arches to help reduce paint chips.

The Mach-E Rally is a rally-ready special that’s fully committed to an exhilarating driving experience; its purposeful look is completed by a sizable rear spoiler that takes inspiration from the Focus RS hatchback, and a unique front splitter, while those Michelin tyres provide enhanced grip in all weather conditions.

Advanced tech and testing

It’s probably no surprise, given Ford’s focused approach to engineering, that the Mach-E Rally is equipped with the company’s first-ever RallySport Drive Mode. Designed specifically for off-road driving, it adapts the car’s electronic control systems to allow bigger slides, returns a linear throttle response for better control, and gives the damping a more aggressive edge for better handling in loose corners.

All this tech trickery is no accident; developed at Ford’s specially designed rally course at its Michigan Proving Ground, Mach-E Rally prototypes were put through their paces in 800-kilometre tests - simulating rally-cross durability trials - to make sure the impressive concept could make the transition to real-world driving conditions.

Despite its obvious performance credentials, the Mach-E Rally still manages to deliver plenty of practicality with a maximum range of 316 miles from a 100% charge across a mixture of roads. And, if you do need a pitstop when you’re out and about, its 150kW fast charging ability means you can top up the battery from 10 to 80 per cent in a little over half an hour.** Built for complete flexibility on the road, track or trail - just like Ford’s rally legends - the Mustang Mach-E Rally is inspired by true driving enthusiasts, offering an all-electric experience like never before.
