2020 is shaping up to the be the year of the electric car - here are the ones we’re most excited about

Polestar – formerly the performance tuning arm of Volvo – is now a standalone brand with a focus on sporty, electrified models. Its first car, the Polestar 1, has already set the tone with its 592bhp plug-in hybrid powertrain, but 2020 will bring the company’s first electric car – the Polestar 2. The new car will be a four-door coupe to rival the Tesla Model 3; Polestar says the 2 will return a range of around 310 miles from a 78kWh battery, with prices to start at around £50,000. A cheaper, standard model is expected to arrive 12 months later, with a price tag of around £34,000. UK buyers will be pleased to note that the Polestar 2 will be available in right-hand drive.
