EV Deal of the Day: talented Cupra Tavascan for £294 a month

The striking Cupra Tavascan is refined, spacious and offers an impressive range

Cupra Tavascan on UK plates - front
  • Distinctive design
  • Good interior space
  • Impressive ride quality

The Cupra Tasvascan delivers real kerb appeal, standing out from a slew of other family electric SUVs with its rakish roofline and angular lines. But while Cupra’s second all-electric car certainly packs a punch with its stylish looks, it also provides plenty of substance under the skin to make it an appealing choice. There’s strong performance on tap, along with a practical range, plus lots of interior space and a sizable boot to cope with the challenges of day-to-day life. It doesn’t offer the last word in driver enjoyment, but counters with a sense of quality and some unique design touches.

This two-year PCH (Personal Contract Hire) deal is from Milease Leasing through Carwow, requiring an initial deposit of £3,797.04, followed by monthly payments of £293.92. There’s a 5,000-mile annual limit, so be sure that this will meet your motoring needs before doing the deal.

Cupra’s V1 specification is the entry point into the range, but still comes with a generous level of standard equipment. There’s 19-inch machined alloys, LED headlights, rear privacy glass, a powered tailgate, a rear-view camera, adaptive cruise control, three-zone climate control, a heated steering wheel, wireless smartphone charging, and a 15-inch central infotainment display.

A 77kWh battery and single electric motor provide a total power output of 282bhp, which helps the Tavascan to a 0-62mph time of 6.8 seconds, while Cupra claims an overall range figure (WLTP combined) of 353 miles.

The Tavascan’s cabin is deceptively spacious, despite the car’s sloping roof, and you’ll find the surfaces inside trimmed in a mix of soft, synthetic materials that work well together. Although the irritating haptic sliders found across other VW Group models are unfortunately still in use here, the onboard technology is mostly good; it’s easy to use and responsive.

Other plus points include a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating and impressive ride quality, while if you’re out and about, you’ll be able to top up the battery from 10 to 80 per cent at a rapid charger in around 30 minutes.
