As a large estate car, this Mondeo Estate Hybrid is intrinsically practical in its own right, but it doesn't measure up very well compared to rivals. For example, the Toyota Corolla Touring Sports is technically a car from the class below, but offers greater luggage capacity.

Ford Mondeo Estate Hybrid interior space, storage & comfort

For occupants front and rear, there's plenty of space to get comfortable in the Mondeo Hybrid, and ride quality is pretty cushioned and smooth, too. Storage space is also plentiful, with a large glovebox, a big tray behind the gearstick and a smattering of generously sized cup-holders.

The one complaint may be about the level of road noise: in comparison to rivals like the Mazda6 and Skoda Superb, the Mondeo makes a bit of a din at speed. Excessive noise from the engine due to the way the CVT gearbox works is noticeable, too.

Boot space

This is where the Mondeo Estate Hybrid really lets the side down. A petrol or diesel-engined version will hold 500 litres of luggage with all seats in place, but the petrol-electric version has to store its battery and hybrid system somewhere, so the total drops to a whisker over 400 litres here. The Corolla Touring Sports Hybrid mentioned above, in contrast, will swallow almost 600 litres of luggage.
