Honda HR-V hybrid MPG & CO2 emissions
The hybrid-only HR-V is capable of returning competitive fuel economy figures that surpass even Honda’s claims with ease
Fuel economy | CO2 emissions |
---|---|
52mpg | 122g/km |
The full-hybrid e:HEV powertrain in the HR-V is the same setup you’ll find in the Jazz supermini, larger CR-V SUV and latest Civic hatchback. Of course, that means the HR-V will never be as efficient or emit as little CO2 as a plug-in hybrid, but the latest iteration of Honda’s compact SUV has proven it can return fuel economy figures that are on par with rivals like the Nissan Juke Hybrid, Toyota Yaris Cross and Toyota C-HR.
Honda HR-V hybrid MPG & CO2 emissions
Isn’t it great when you can achieve better fuel economy than the official figures? Honda reckons the front-wheel-drive HR-V should return 52.3mpg, delivering up to 460 miles from a full tank of petrol, but our tests showed that 60mpg is possible without really trying. This figure should improve even further if you spend most of your time in the city, where the electric motors have more opportunities to take over.
In terms of CO2 emissions, the HR-V produces 122g/km – slightly more than both the Hyundai Kona and Renault Captur hybrids, as well as the Jazz supermini that uses the same powertrain. However, both the fuel economy and emissions figures for this model are a marked improvement over the previous generation HR-V.
