Suzuki Swace hybrid MPG & CO2 emissions
The Swace offers familiar fuel economy from a familiar engine, but a plug-in hybrid will still serve company-car buyers better
Fuel economy (combined) | CO2 emissions |
---|---|
64.2mpg | 103g/km |
There's only one engine available in the Swace, and the CO2 emissions and fuel-economy figures are identical for both trim levels. These figures are, unsurprisingly, very similar to those for the Toyota Corolla Touring Sports.
It's important to remember that while the Swace is a hybrid, it doesn't benefit quite as much from lower tax rates as an equivalent plug-in model. And if you really want to cut your running costs, a pure-electric car will do a much better job.
Suzuki Swace hybrid MPG & CO2 emissions
The Swace uses the same engine as the most efficient version of the Corolla Touring Sports. The 1.8-litre engine is assisted by an electric motor and a small battery to help return a claimed 64.2mpg, which is very respectable for a car of this size and type.
The official CO2 emissions figure of 103g/km is also very similar to that of the Toyota, and better than average for a medium-sized 'self-charging' hybrid. For comparison's sake, the Kia Niro Hybrid manages 110-120g/km of CO2 and up to 59mpg.
It's worth keeping in mind that if you regularly undertake shorter trips, a plug-in hybrid is likely to be a better option, as you can get by without using any fuel in that situation. Similarly, there are some fully electric options available which – while slightly more expensive to buy – will slash running costs significantly more than a hybrid car like the Swace will.
