New 2021 Lexus IS teased ahead of full reveal
Darkened teaser shot reveals rear light signature of upcoming fourth-generation version of BMW 3 Series-rivalling executive saloon
Lexus has released a teaser photo (above) of the forthcoming new 2021 model year IS, which will be fourth-generation version of the company's Audi A4, BMW 3 Series and Mercedes C-Class rival.
Apart from a swooping, curved rear light signature, few details about the final look of the car can be discerned. The model is set to be revealed in full in an online presentation on 6 June.
No technical details about the new IS have been shared; indeed, the only official information about the car has been the statement from Lexus that it'll "[bring] the thrill of driving to the compact luxury sports car segment", suggesting a renewed attempt the challenge the BMW's dominance in the area of driving fun and engagement.
The IS has been available in hybrid form since the current third-generation model debuted in 2013; a 2.5-litre "self-charging" hybrid drivetrain is currently the only engine option the car can be bought with in the UK. Lexus' current hybrid saloon range also encompasses the ES and LS.
