Cupra Born is now £6,000 cheaper than a Tesla Model 3 and comes with a free charger

A range-wide price cut for Cupra’s first EV brings a slimline range structure, as well as some tempting bonuses

Cupra Born price cut

The Cupra Born was already one of the better-value electric family cars on sale, but thanks to a new price cut, it’s now over £2,000 cheaper than before and roughly £6,000 less than a Tesla Model 3 RWD.

Don’t get too excited, though, as while the entry-level Cupra Born V1 58kWh 201bhp model now starts from just £34,125, Cupra is not taking new order s; buyers must instead settle for pre-configured models from stock.

This streamlining of the Cupra Born range extends beyond just the base model, too. Now, all versions of the Cupra Born come as standard with the 227bhp e-Boost powertrain; 201bhp can still be ordered, but again, only from stock.

If you absolutely must have your very own personal specification, the Cupra Born V1 e-Boost now starts from £35,085. Stepping up to the V2 model will set you back roughly another £1,800 but adds niceties like heated front seats and a head-up display.

Opting for the top-spec V3 model is now the only way to access the larger 77kWh battery; the 58kWh unit, which is also offered on the V3, provides a range of up to 264 miles, however, Cupra says the larger 77kWh battery is enough for up to 342 miles on a charge.

That’s not all, as the high-performance Cupra Born VZ is also set to go on sale later this year; this produces as much as 321bhp and gets an even bigger 79kWh battery for a 353-mile range.

As for the remainder of the Cupra Born line-up, the Spanish brand is now offering a compelling 0% APR three-year finance deal for all models, or a £4,000 deposit contribution on 3.9% four-year finance deals. Buyers that lock-in before the 2 April will also get a free Ohme home wallbox charger, as well as £750 pre-paid credit card – ideal for paying to charge the car at public rapid chargers – and two years free servicing.
