Volkswagen ID. Buzz: boot space, seating & practicality
It’s not the largest MPV on sale, but the ID. Buzz is still a very family-friendly machine
Model | Length | Width | Height | Boot volume (seats up/down) |
ID. Buzz | 4,712mm | 1,985mm | 1,927mm | 1,121/2,205 litres |
ID. Buzz LWB | 4,982mm | 2,211mm | 1,924mm | 306/2,469 litres |
Beneath the retro-inspired styling, the Volkswagen ID. Buzz really delivers when it comes to practicality. Its boxy, van-like shape provides maximum luggage space, while the LWB model helps to boost this even further. This layout, combined with the windscreen being positioned right at the very front of the car, means the interior feels very spacious.
Volkswagen ID. Buzz interior space, storage & comfort
The front seats are very comfortable and give a great view of the road ahead. Originally the ID. Buzz was exclusively available as a five-seater, but now the LWB variant means you can have seven seats. If you want the best of both worlds, the LWB’s rearmost seats can be completely removed to make way for 1,349 litres of cargo space. If you’re carrying a particularly long item, you can also remove the ‘Buzz Box’ centre console on both models.
Access to the rear seats is made much easier by twin sliding side doors, which make exiting the vehicle in tight car park spaces no issue whatsoever. It’s a shame that the middle seats aren’t individually moveable, though, and that ISOFIX child-seat mounting points are only fitted on the outer two seats.
Boot space
The Volkswagen ID. Buzz MPV boasts far more boots than any SUV or estate car. In SWB form there’s a minimum of 1,121 litres on offer. With the middle row folded, this figure almost doubles to 2,205 litres.
The second-row seats do create a small lip so the boot floor isn’t completely flat; but that’s solved by the raised boot floor you can pick from the options list. While this slightly reduces overall capacity, it does create a small underfloor storage area in which to hide valuables or stash the charging cables.
The ID. Buzz’s boot drops to 306 litres in the LWB version, but in return you’ll get seating for another two passengers.
