While you can live with an electric car without a home charger, a wallbox makes ownership far easier. They’re designed to be installed on the wall of your home, hence the name, and allow far faster charging than using a standard three-pin household socket.

For the Nissan Leaf, this is the difference between a charge taking 13.3 hours using a three-pin plug or 5.7 hours with a 7kW home charger. If you’re able to have a 22kW charger installed, it could take less than two hours.
