With no tailpipe emissions – or any kind of tailpipe in fact – electric cars are exempt from the £11.50-a-day London Congestion Charge. That could save drivers living in and around Greater London some £2,500 a year. Combined with the £3,500 Plug-in Car Grant, would-be electric car buyers could save around £11,000 over three years.
