New Dacia Spring UK prices announced and no electric car is cheaper

Dacia hits the British EV market with a new electric car priced under £15,000

Dacia has rolled out the all-electric Spring for UK buyers with very competitive prices starting from £14,995 making it cheaper than any rival. The Dacia Spring is on sale and available to be ordered now.

As well as the cheap starting price, the Spring is offered with an appealing finance package too. It’s available from £169 a month over 49 months, with only a £2,325 deposit and a low 3.9 per cent APR making it even more affordable.

The Dacia Spring is fitted with a small 26.8kWh battery and is said to be capable of achieving 137 miles (WLTP) on a charge. Charging is easy too, a 7kW charger is able to top up the car completely in around four hours. Alternatively, you could even plug it into a 3-pin socket and charge from 20 per cent to full in 11 hours. The Dacia Spring can use DC charging up to 30kW, which can complete a 20 to 80 per cent charge in around 45 minutes.

The Spring is not a new car for Dacia, it has been around in some European countries for almost 3 years and successfully sold over 140,000 models. This is the first time it has been released in Britain and will be offered here in a choice of three trims.

The trim options are called the Expression, Expression 65 and Extreme 65 with the 65 denoting the amount of power that the electric motor produces. The entry level Expression generates 44bhp, but the higher spec 65 models offer 64bhp. The fastest 64bhp model goes from 0 to 62mph in 13.7 seconds and the 44bhp will carry you to 62mph in 19 seconds.

The entry-level Expression will come fitted with a choice of either 14 or 15-inch wheels, with standard interior features such as a seven-inch touchscreen, parking sensors and air conditioning. But if you decide to go for the top of the range models, those will come fitted with the 15-inch wheels as standard, electric windows all round, a ten-inch screen with built in sat-nav, Android Auto and Apple Carplay connectivity.

In the Dacia Spring Extreme you will also have a feature that supports vehicle-to-load technology, which, to put in simple terms, allows you to connect and power items with a 3-pin plug using a supplied adaptor. This means that if you are out and decide you need a cup of tea, you can plug in your kettle and put it on to boil or connect a mini-fridge to cool down drinks or food. The choices are endless.

The Spring is not a massive car, as you would expect, at a length of 3.72 metres it sits firmly in the supermini category. The boot space is limited with only 308 litres which increases to 1,004 litres when you fold the seats down.
