Under the Mokka Electric's stylish bodywork is the same powertrain you’ll find in the Stellantis Group’s other electric offerings. It doesn’t shove you back in your seat like a Tesla or some other electric cars do, but it'll get the car up to motorway speeds with ease. At that point, the powertrain is quiet and adds a new level of refinement to the Mokka Electric’s driving experience.

Vauxhall Mokka Electric 0-62mph, top speed and acceleration

There’s only one powertrain option available to Mokka Electric buyers: a 134bhp front-mounted electric motor that’s also used in other Stellantis-group cars such as the Peugeot-208 and Citroen e-C4. This propels the Mokka Electric from 0-62mph in a phlegmatic 8.5 seconds.

Vauxhall announced in early 2023 that the Mokka Electric is soon due to receive the same more powerful 154bhp as the recently-facelifted Peugeot e-2008. This will also be paired with a larger 54kWh battery and thus, is unlikely to provide much of a boost in performance – in fact, the updated Peugeot is actually slightly slower than the old car, reaching 0-62mph in 9.1 seconds.

Handling

The Vauxhall Mokka majors on offering a calm and comfortable driving experience; the soft suspension manages to soak up the majority of bumps and potholes around town, although it can feel a little floaty at higher speeds. There are several driving modes to choose from – Eco, Normal and Sport – but even when switched into the latter, it’s never that much fun to drive. The steering never becomes heavy enough and there’s quite a bit of body roll whenever you throw the electric Mokka into a high speed corner; keen drivers looking for a sporty family EV should instead look at the MG4 or the Cupra Born.
