Cupra Formentor e-Hybrid costs, insurance, warranty & tax
Low CO2 emissions and a decent electric range make the Formentor hybrid very appealing to company-car drivers, with a Benefit-in-Kind rate of just 11%
Insurance group | Warranty | Service interval | 2021/22 company-car tax cost (20%/40%) |

24-26 | 3yrs / 60,000 miles | TBC | From £786 / £1,571 |
If you go for one of the plug-in hybrid powertrains available for the Formentor, you won’t just see excellent fuel economy; you’ll also benefit from an 11% Benefit-in-Kind (BiK) tax rate as a company-car user. For reference, the cheapest petrol-engined Formentor has a BiK rate of 32%.
Cupra Formentor e-Hybrid insurance group
The Formentor sits comfortably in insurance group 24 or 26 depending on which trim level you go for. This is a pretty low rating for a car of this size, especially a plug-in hybrid; they can be more expensive to cover due to the complexity of their powertrains and how much higher insurance companies estimate repairs on them can be.
Warranty
The Formentor e-Hybrid comes with Cupra’s standard three-year/60,000 mile warranty. Although that isn’t as comprehensive as Mercedes’ three-year/unlimited-mileage cover, Cupra's guarantee is the same as those from Audi and Volvo. But Cupra does also include an eight-year/100,000-mile warranty on the e-Hybrid's batteries.
Servicing
Exact serving intervals for the Formentor aren’t clear yet, but when you do need to take it in, there are currently 55 Cupra dealerships in the UK. As it's SEAT’s performance offshoot, many of its dealerships are dual Cupra and SEAT franchises. It's worth nothing, therefore, that SEAT ranked second-to-last in the 2020 Driver Power survey when it came to customer satisfaction.
Road tax
Thanks to the Formentor hybrid's low CO2 emissions of 33g/km, you won't pay any road tax (VED) for the first year and only £145 per annum after that, as long as your Formentor doesn’t exceed the £40,000 list-price threshold – otherwise you incur an additional £335 premium the first five times the tax is renewed. However, only the VZ2 model starts at over £40,000, so the others escape its £480 per annum road-tax bill.
