Land Rover has a pretty good track record when it comes to producing stylish and luxurious interiors and the latest Discovery Sport – P300e hybrid or otherwise – doesn't let the side down in this respect. The brand's latest 'Pivi Pro' infotainment system is a particular highlight and means Land Rover no longer lags behind the likes of Audi, BMW and Mercedes when it comes to in-car technology.

Land Rover Discovery Sport PHEV dashboard

The latest Discovery Sport doesn't deviate much from Land Rover's established simple and solid interior design formula, but it does now incorporate some of the latest in-car technology: there's a large customisable digital display behind the steering wheel, as well as a large landscape-orientated screen for the Pivi Pro infotainment in the middle of the dashboard.

Unlike some Range Rover models, the Discovery Sport doesn't have a second, lower-down touchscreen for operating the climate control; instead, there are trusty physical knobs and buttons for adjusting temperature and fan speed, which is no bad thing in our opinion.

Equipment, options & accessories

The days of plug-in hybrid cars being standalone variants are pretty much gone; like most brands, Land Rover is offering its petrol-electric drivetrain across all trim levels. The one caveat to this with the Discovery Sport is that it's only available in combination with the 'R-Dynamic' sporty styling pack, which is normally an optional add-on to any of the standard S, SE and HSE trim levels. That bumps up the price of the hybrid ever so slightly, but not in a way that'll make a significant difference to the P300e's primarily company-car target market.

Standard kit on the entry-level R-Dynamic S trim is generous: you get 12-way adjustable heated front seats, heated power-folding mirrors, leather seats, a leather steering wheel, 18-inch alloys, LED headlights, Land Rover's 'Terrain Response' off-road system, the 10-inch Pivi Pro infotainment screen, cruise control and safety technology including lane-keeping assistance, a 3D surround-view camera, parking sensors traffic-sign recognition and an adaptive speed limiter.

Moving up to SE ups the wheel size to 19 inches and adds automatic high-beams, a powered tailgate, a panoramic roof and additional safety kit (blind spot assistance and rear cross-traffic alerts), while HSE builds on this further with 20-inch alloys, a ClearSight camera-based rear-view mirror, keyless entry, Windsor leather, 14-way adjustment for the front seats, a premium Meridian sound system and adaptive cruise control.

Infotainment, apps & sat nav

During 2020, Land Rover rolled out an all-new in-car infotainment system – called Pivi Pro – across all its models, starting with the Defender and then the Discovery Sport. The old system lagged behind those of German rivals badly, so this is a welcome upgrade, with much-improved responsiveness and full smartphone integration for both Apple and Android users.
