EV Deal of the Day: fun-to-drive MINI Cooper for only £238 per month

The all-electric MINI Cooper oozes quality, and is now offered at a temptingly low price

  • Entertaining to drive
  • Impressive on-board tech
  • Good build quality

The all-electric MINI Cooper continues to provide the appealing blend of sophistication, style and fun that has served the brand so well for more than two decades. You know what you’re getting with the retro three-door hatchback, no matter which powertrain you opt for; impressive handling, excellent build quality, and a funky cabin design are obvious strengths, while anyone who bemoans the Cooper’s cramped interior space is missing the point.

This two-year PCH (Personal Contract Hire) deal from VIPGateway Leasing, through our parent site Carwow, requires an initial payment of £3,150.34, followed by monthly instalments of £237.61. There is also a 5,000-mile annual limit, which you’ll need to consider.

The Cooper E Exclusive model in this particular deal includes a decent amount of standard kit, such as 17-inch alloys, sports seats, a rear view camera, cruise control, dual-zone air conditioning, and a circular central display with integrated navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

With a peak charging speed of 95kW, the all-electric Cooper isn’t a class leader, but because it comes equipped with a relatively small battery (36.6kWh usable), you’ll still be able to charge from 10-80 per cent in 28 minutes - while a typical 7.4kW home wallbox charger needs a little over four hours to perform the same task.

Overall practicality obviously isn't going to be a big attraction for potential buyers. The Cooper has just 210 litres of boot space, although those tight rear seats do, at least, provide some convenience if you need to transport two or three passengers from time to time. In reality though, you’re buying a MINI Cooper for its style, quality and ability to put a smile on your face, and if it suits your lifestyle, then it’s hard to argue against.

Factor in a decent turn of pace (0-62mph takes 7.3 seconds), good efficiency and some impressive active safety systems offered as standard, and the all-electric MINI Cooper seems a bit of a bargain at this low price.
