Toyota Camry Hybrid costs, insurance, warranty & tax

The Toyota Camry Hybrid has a high-ish insurance rating, but excellent five-year warranty keeps unexpected bills at bay

The Toyota Camry's running costs are reasonable, but not class-leading, and it can't hold a candle to plug-in hybrid or pure-electric rivals in this area, either. Insurance groups are relatively high, company-car tax is reasonable and warranty cover is excellent.

Toyota Camry Hybrid insurance group

Insurance groups for the Camry are 32 for Design spec and 33 for Excel. That's quite a bit more than the Ford Mondeo Hybrid, which even in plush Vignale trim is only rated in group 24, so in most circumstances that latter will be cheaper to cover.

Warranty

All Toyotas sold in the UK come with a five-year/100,000-mile warranty, which is among the most generous on the market, beaten only by Kia's seven-year/100,000-mile offering and Hyundai's five-year/unlimited-mileage guarantee.

Servicing

Exact servicing rates for the Camry in the UK haven't been confirmed yet, but like all Toyota hybrids, its regular servicing also incorporates a 'Hybrid Health Check' to ensure the hybrid system's components are functioning correctly. The Camry needs a dealer visit at least once a year, or every 10,000 miles – whichever comes up first.

Road tax

As it's a hybrid, the Camry entitles its owner to a £10 annual discount on standard road-tax fee of £155, so you'll pay £145 every 12 months instead.
