Toyota Corolla Touring Sports practicality & boot space

It's not the largest estate in its class, but the Toyota Corolla Touring Sports will carry plenty of luggage with ease, and the interior is spacious

If you want maximum carrying capacity from an estate car in this class, something like a Skoda Octavia Estate or Peugeot 308 SW will beat the Corolla for sheer volume. However, the Toyota is arguably better looking than either of those two, and has a pretty generous boot in its own right.

Toyota Corolla Touring Sports interior space, storage & comfort

The Corolla Touring Sports (and the four-door saloon version) both have a longer wheelbase than the five-door hatchback, giving greater legroom for rear-seat passengers. There are also separate air vents for the rear seats, further boosting comfort. Up front, the driving position feels nicely 'cocooned' and much-improved interior quality (compared to the Auris Touring Sports) makes it nice place to sit.

Boot space

Toyota has yet to reveal a maximum seats-down boot capacity for the Touring Sports, but with the rear seats in place, it'll hold 598 litres with the 1.8-litre engine and 581 litres with the 2.0-litre. A Volkswagen Golf Estate can hold about 25 litres more, while the Peugeot 308 SW can swallow 660 litres. On the plus side, an adjustable boot floor and reversible carpeted or rubber lining boosts the Corolla's versatility and the rear seats can be dropped using remote handles.
