EV Deal of the Day: improved Volkswagen ID.3 for only £219 per month

A facelift in 2023 and more recent infotainment upgrades mean the VW ID.3 is more accomplished than ever

  • Welcome infotainment upgrades
  • Decent range
  • Spacious

It’s probably fair to say that the Volkswagen ID.3 wasn’t without its flaws when it first appeared on sale in early 2020. Despite offering a useful all-electric range, decent interior space and a refined driving experience, its interior quality wasn’t up to scratch and the glitchy onboard infotainment system left us distinctly unimpressed. Things have improved markedly with recent updates though and the car looks particularly attractive on a £219 per month lease deal.

We found the two-year PCH (Personal Contract Hire) deal from Select Car Leasing, through our parent site Carwow, offering a generously equipped ID.3 Pro S Match model for just £219 per month. The initial payment is £2,927.04 including a £294 broker fee, with an annual mileage allowance of 5,000 miles per year.

Standard kit includes 20-inch alloy wheels, LED Matrix headlights, rear privacy glass, keyless entry and start, a rear view camera, a wireless smartphone charging function, and VW’s Discover Pro navigation system.

Originally, the ID.3’s touch-sensitive sliders for the cabin temperature and media volume were awkward to use, because you could easily nudge them when trying to use the touchscreen - plus they weren’t backlit, so trying to operate them while on the move at night was a real challenge.

Fortunately, Volkswagen responded to feedback with an earlier-than-planned model facelift in 2023; improving material quality inside the cabin and reducing the confusing combination of eight trim levels and three battery options to just the 59kWh Pro and 77kWh Pro S versions - both offered with either Essential or Match specifications. More recently the German manufacturer has also introduced a larger, 12.9-inch infotainment display and backlighting for those controls mentioned above.

Practicality has always been a relatively strong point for the ID.3. The five-door EV offers more interior space compared with its Golf stablemate, and there’s lots of storage options for everyday items, including a cavernous storage bin upfront with an adjustable partition and two deep cup holders. With its 385-litre boot, the ID.3 just shades the Golf on load lugging ability, too. A maximum range of up to 345 miles adds to this Pro S model’s usability, although its 0-62mph time of 8.2 seconds means it isn’t particularly rapid.

All of our EV Deal of the Day choices are chosen from the providers on our parent site Carwow. Our experts choose the best deals on cars we’re happy to recommend.
