Porsche Macan: range, battery & charging
Both variants claim well over 300 miles of battery range, as long you go easy on the throttle
Model | Range | Wallbox charge time | Rapid charge time |
Macan 4 | 381 miles | 13 hours (0-100%, 7.4kW) | 21 mins (10-80%, 270kW) |
Macan Turbo | 367 miles | 13 hours (0-100%, 7.4kW) | 21 mins (10-80%, 270kW) |
There are two variants of the Porsche Macan to choose from: the Macan 4 or Macan Turbo, and more models are expected to join the line-up in future, including an S and GTS versions.
These future models may bring in a single-motor powertrain with them but, for now, every Macan is powered by a dual-motor setup which is fed by a 100kWh (95kWh usable) battery pack.
Porsche Taycan range
As with just about any performance EV, driving the Macan to the limit will prove exciting but also costly in terms of battery range. Fortunately, the battery is big enough that both versions of the Macan officially claim well over 300 miles per charge.
As you’d expect, opting for the less-powerful Macan 4 yields the best results in terms of distance travelled on a charge, with an official figure of 381 miles on the WLTP combined cycle. That being said, the punchy Turbo isn’t too far behind with up to 367 miles on offer.
During testing, our Macan 4 returned 2.9miles/kWh while being driven hard around a demanding track, which equates to a total real-world range of around 275 miles. In day-to-day conditions on regular roads, we’d expect the Porsche to return over 300 miles with minimal fuss.
Porsche Taycan charging
When you need to plug in, the chunky 95kWh battery can be topped up from 10-80% in just 21 minutes thanks to Porsche’s 800-volt architecture, as this can handle rapid-charging speeds of up to 270kW.
If you’re charging at home or on the street, you won’t need to worry about stretching cables or turning the Macan around, as it has an 11kW AC charging port on both sides. If you need to use a rapid-charger, though, this will need to be connected on the left hand side. Hooking up to a typical 7.4kW home wallbox charger will take around 13 hours to fully-charge the Macan from zero to 100%.
