The electric Porsche Macan is yet to be tested by Euro NCAP, but Porsche’s reputation as a brand is very strong when it comes to both safety and reliability. The Taycan and the previous Macan both scored a full five stars when they were tested, so we’d expect this Macan to do the same.

Porsche Macan reliability & problems

It’ll take time to determine just how reliable the Macan actually is, but given the far less complex nature of electric powertrains compared to combustion setups, there’s technically less to go wrong.

Porsche’s consistently excellent performances in our yearly Driver Power customer satisfaction surveys should also prove highly reassuring to any potential buyers. The brand placed first in the 2023 Driver Power manufacturer rankings.

Safety

Every Macan comes with advanced safety technology such as lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking (AEB) and traffic sign recognition as standard. The best news is that these systems weren’t too intrusive during testing, so we didn’t feel like we had to constantly contend with them or switch them off altogether.

Hello, I’m Shane and I’m the senior content editor both here at DrivingElectric and at our sister title Auto Express. Although I can trace my professional roots back to the radio and podcasting world, my passion (or borderline obsession) with cars saw me switch over to motoring journalism in 2021. From the very start I have been fortunate enough to try out the latest and greatest electric cars on the market, and I’m proud to help people like you make the right EV buying decisions.
