Renault Megane Sport Tourer E-TECH hybrid (2020-2022) reliability & safety rating
A long warranty and strong crash-test results bode well for the Megane hybrid in these areas
Euro NCAP | Adult protection | Child protection | Safety assist |
---|---|---|---|
5 stars (2019) | 88% | 87% | 71% |
The Renault Megane E-TECH hasn’t been specifically crash-tested by Euro NCAP, but the petrol and diesel version received a five-star rating in 2015, which was reviewed in 2019 and applies to the current Megane plug-in hybrid, too. See below for more on the safety kit you get as standard.
Renault Megane hybrid reliability & problems
There’s no reason to think the Megane hybrid will be any less reliable than other Meganes. It shares the same five-year/100,000-mile warranty as those models, so it should be dependable. In the 2020 Driver Power survey, Renault finished 15th out of 30 manufacturers, so you can expect an average ownership experience.
Safety
Safety kit on the Megane hybrid is good, as even entry-level cars come with lane-departure warning, braking assistance, automatic high beams and ISOFIX child-seat anchor points in the rear seats. You can add the Safety Pack to R.S. Line cars at extra cost; this includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assistance and an emergency call service.
The Motorway Pack adds traffic-jam assistance and rear cross-traffic alerts, plus hands-free parking. An emergency spare wheel isn’t standard; you have to buy it as an optional extra. As standard you get a tyre-repair kit.
