Ford Kuga Hybrid engines, drive & performance
The Kuga is still one of the best family SUVs to drive, with precise steering and good grip, however this full-hybrid version is slightly let down by its CVT transmission
0-62mph | Top speed | Driven wheels | Power |
---|---|---|---|
9.1s | 125mph | Front | 187bhp |
The Ford Kuga remains one of the more rewarding family SUVs to drive and the full-hybrid version is no exception. However, the CVT transmission does dampen the driving experience, as it feels a little sluggish and frankly we’d expect more refinement from an electrified SUV like this.
Ford Kuga Hybrid 0-62mph, top speed and acceleration
Under the Kuga’s bonnet is a 2.5-litre petrol engine that works in conjunction with an electric motor. The total power output is 187bhp, which makes the full-hybrid SUV capable of 0-62mph in 9.1 seconds. There’s little to complain about when it comes to the Kuga FHEV’s performance, as it’s on par with other non-plug-in hybrids like the Toyota RAV4 and Kia Niro.
Handling
The latest Ford Kuga has long been one of the best SUVs to drive and the full-hybrid version is no different. The Kuga FHEV handles well. with quick, precise steering, and the good grip it provides means you can enjoy the 1,701kg SUV even when you encounter twistier roads. The ride isn’t uncomfortable per se, however, it may be too much on the firm side for some.
